Article Glen sent to the Press About Grandpa

FORMER SOUTHERN ALBERTAN TURNS 100

Rufus Everett Sherwood who was born near Kimball, AB., in 1908, turns 100 on Mar. 7th.

Rufus’ parents Arthur and Melissa Bennett Sherwood were US émigrés who homesteaded near Del Bonita at the turn of the last century.

His youth was spent working on the family homestead and hiring out to work on neighboring cattle spreads including the Bar K 2 ranch. For much of his adult life, he was involved in the construction industry in Canada and the US.

He moved to Utah in the fifties and then to Washington State. After the death of his first wife, Ella Tanner in 1980, he married Hazel Madden. They make their home in Edmonds, WA.

He is the father of six living children, 33 grandchildren, 101 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren with more to come. His children and many of the grandchildren will be arriving from many parts of the US and Canada to help him celebrate the occasion.

An open house will be held on Fri., March 7th at the Edmonds Ward LDS Chapel.
